Is God your source of strength?

Psalm 46

• Do you ever have trouble? Do you have Someone to help? (v 1)
• If God is your strength, then why are you afraid? (v 2)
• Many people would have us behold the wondrous and beautiful works of God; not many would have us the desolations that He has made. (v 8)
• Who, alone, is able to make greedy, sinful men to live at peace with one another? (v 9)

God’s love for His city and His queen

Psalm 87

• God loves some more than others (Psalm 87:2). The sooner you accept that fact, the sooner you will be able to submit fully to His will.
• The reputation of the city of God is glorious (v 3). At least it is among the people who know God. Others find nothing to be desired in the place of God’s habitation.
• Of all the places where one could be born, none is more glorious than the city of God. Three times our psalmist rejoices that he was from God’s place (v 4,5, 6) Where were you born? Were you ever born of God (John 1:13)? Born again (John 3:3,5)? Born of the Spirit, and not just of the flesh?

• Do you enjoy being with God? Do you look forward to your daily prayer and Bible reading time? Does the prospect of going to church thrill your soul? If the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever, are you reaching the goal?
