Psalm 11

  • Save yourself (1-3)
  • No, I will believe that God will save me (4-7)

Psalm 12

  • God, help me; for nobody else will (1)
  • I am surrounded by sinners (v 2-5)
  • God, I know that You are good and that You will do good for me (6-8)

Psalm 13

  • Lord, it’s been a long time (1-2)
  • And I’m ready to die at any moment (3)
  • I can’t bear to hear the taunts of my enemies (4)
  • Thank You, Lord, for hearing my praying and answering favorably (5-6)

Psalm 106

Pray for yourself, and pray for your people

For self (1-5)

For others

  • who have enjoyed God’s mercies ( 6-39)
  • who have sinned and been afflicted (40-46)
  • who need God to restore them (47-48)

Psalm 107

Trouble in life is like

  • a journey into an unknown and scary wilderness (1-9)
  • imprisonment (10-16)
  • serious illness (17-22)
  • a storm at sea (23-32)

    We who have experiences trouble in life should praise God because

    • He stops the afflictions and changes the climate of our lives (33-38)
    • He lifts us up and casts our enemies down (39-41)
    • His providence is a lesson to us (42-43)

    Psalm 108

    A short prayer can be as effective as a long one.

    • O, my soul, what good things you have received of the Lord (vs 1-5)
    • O, my God, comfort me (v 6)
    • O, my people, pray for God to deliver you (7-13)

    Psalm 103

    8 good reasons to praise the Lord:

    • He forgives our iniquities and heals our diseases (v 3)
    • He redeems us and covers us with His mercy (v 4)
    • He satisfies us with good things (v 5)
    • He helps us and He reveals His will to us (v 6-9)
    • He pardons us (v 10-12)
    • He is God our Father (v 13-14)
    • His mercy and rule are everlasting (v 17-19)

     

    Psalm 104

    8 great works of God our Creator and Lord:

    • He made the heavens (v 1-3)
    • He made the earth and the sea (v 4-9)
    • He made the rivers (v 10-13)
    • He made plants and trees (v 14-18)
    • He made the sun and the moon, day and night (v 19-23)
    • He made the earth and sea bountiful for men and animals (v 24-31)
    • He controls earthquakes and volcanoes (v 32)
    • He teaches us that sinners shall be destroyed (v 33-35)

     

    Psalm 105

    6 more reasons to praise the Lord:

    • He does great things (v 1-5)
    • He has shown goodness to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph (v 6-22)
    • He showed goodness to Israel and Moses in Egypt (v 23-26)
    • He sent plagues against Egypt, and delivered Israel (v 27-38)
    • He stayed by Israel during the 40 years in the wilderness (v 39-43)
    • He opened up Canaan for His people (v 44-45)

    How to praise the Lord

    Psalm 149

    • in song, with a new song (v 1)
    • for being our Creator and King (v 2)
    • with our bodies (v 3)
    • loudly, with joy (v 5)
    • by our campaign to remove sin from the world (v 6-9)

    Psalm 150

    • in church and out of church (v 1)
    • for His actions and His attributes (v 2)
    • with musical instruments (v 3-6)

    Meditation Points:

    1. The Lord enjoys His people (Psalm 149:4; Psalm 147:11). Do you enjoy Him?
    2. Everything that has breath should praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6). Are you breathing?
