Notes: May 9, 2008 – Deuteronomy 12 & 13

The place which the LORD your God shall choose…

Deuteronomy 12:5

Deuteronomy 12:11

Deuteronomy 12:14

Deuteronomy 12:18

Deuteronomy 12:26

Apostates all…

Prophet apostates (Deut. 13:1-5)

Family apostates (Deut. 13:6-11)

Neighbor apostates (Deut. 13:12-18)

Meditation Points:

  • Where can God be found?
  • Where should you worship God?
  • Where should you and your family worship God?
  • Love your pastors; but not if they contradict God-even if they perform miracles.
  • Love your family; but not if they entice you to serve other gods.
  • Love your neighbors; but not if they conspire against the Lord.

  • God will be with His people 24/7 (Deuteronomy 11:12).
  • The people were warned that the rain would stop if they abandoned God and went after false gods (Deuteronomy 11:12-17); and the rains did stop (1 Kings 17:1).
  • How do children learn about God (Deut. 11:19)?
  • A blessing (if you obey); and a curse (if you do not obey) (Deut. 11:27-28). Which would you choose?
