More on the invitation to a dinner turned heated discussion.

Luke 11:37-54

• It seemed innocent. A Pharisee invited Jesus to dinner. Jesus accepted.
• The host quickly noticed that Jesus was not following the Pharisaical traditions regarding ritual washing before eating.
• Jesus countered that washing the outside without washing the inside was foolish.
• Then Jesus pointed out ways in which the Pharisees and lawyers were guilty of living contrary to God’s holy commands.
• After he was done, the Pharisees and lawyers continued to press Jesus on various matters, hoping to trip him up so that they might have reason to accuse him of sin.
