30 pieces of silver
What would you pay to be rid of God, His word, His people, your conscience?
Zechariah 11
- The people destroyed (v. 1-6)
- The unsuccessful prophet (v. 7-14).
- The unrighteous shepherd (v. 15-17).
Meditation Points:
- Matthew 27:7
- If they will not have Christ, if they would sell Him for 30 pieces of silver (v. 12),
- then they will suffer at the hands of cruel shepherds (v. 16).
Zechariah 12
- If God is not the Creator, then why would we trust Him (v. 1)
- The trembling cup, the burdensome stone, and the fiery hearth, and the burning sheaf (v. 2-6) represent judgments upon the land.
- As a result, the people will be filled with astonishment, madness and blindness (v. 4).
- But God will avenge His name against His enemies (v. 9-10)
- Widespread mourning (v. 11-14).
Meditation points:
- John 19:35-37.
- Does the sight of Christ fill you with joy?
