30 pieces of silver

What would you pay to be rid of God, His word, His people, your conscience?

Zechariah 11

  • The people destroyed (v. 1-6)
  • The unsuccessful prophet (v. 7-14).
  • The unrighteous shepherd (v. 15-17).

Meditation Points:

  • Matthew 27:7
  • If they will not have Christ, if they would sell Him for 30 pieces of silver (v. 12),
  • then they will suffer at the hands of cruel shepherds (v. 16).

Zechariah 12

  • If God is not the Creator, then why would we trust Him (v. 1)
  • The trembling cup, the burdensome stone, and the fiery hearth, and the burning sheaf (v. 2-6) represent judgments upon the land.
  • As a result, the people will be filled with astonishment, madness and blindness (v. 4).
  • But God will avenge His name against His enemies (v. 9-10)
  • Widespread mourning (v. 11-14).

Meditation points:

  • John 19:35-37.
  • Does the sight of Christ fill you with joy?
  • Does knowing the crucified Christ cause you to mourn over your sin?
