Notes: December 7, 2008 – 2 Kings 12

Continuing look at the life of Joash (Jehoash)

  • He did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him (vs 2). Many of us do well only as long as someone is watching, too.
  • He marveled that the work of the Lord had gone unfinished for so many years (vs 7). Does anyone today care that the name and worship of God have fallen into disuse and corruption?
  • He trusted his workers not to waste or steal the money for the Lord’s rebuilding project (vs 15). Are you trustworthy?
  • He thought to buy mercy from the Syrians (vs 18). Money can’t buy salvation.
  • He was assassinated by two of his own servants (vs 21).
