“Why can’t I go, too?”

When Jesus announced that He was going away and none of the disciples could go with him, Peter asked why not.

John 13:31-38

31. Judas was gone. Jesus began to speak about great spiritual things.

32. The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Jesus shall be glorified by the Father.

33. Jesus had already told “the Jews” that they could not follow him; and now he tells his disciples the same thing.

34-35. The new commandment. Not really new, like brand new. But a new explanation. Keeping this commandment will be evidence of belonging to Christ.

36-37. Peter wants to go with Jesus and pledges dying loyalty.

38. Jesus predicts that Peter will deny Jesus before the sun comes up.
