Notes: October 10, 2008 – 1 Chronicles 27

The Chronicles of Narnia are the history of a fictitious land. The Chronicles of Judah and Israel are both the history of an actual land and a record of various groups of the land’s public servants. Nowhere is accountability more expected, necessary and, hopefully, observable than in government. Today’s reading is exactly that.

  • A record of the monthly military assignments (vs 1-15)
  • A record of the tribal leaders (vs 16-24)
  • A record of those who supervised various properties (vs 25-31)
  • A record of the king’s advisors (vs 32-34)

Of special interest is the note that David’s census of men qualified for military service was neither completed nor included because of God’s anger that David had neglected the divine promise to increase the nation ( 1 Chronicles 27:23-24).
