God’s covenant with David

Samuel 7

Chronicles 17

-2 David desires to build a house for God 1
Nathan agrees 2
God speaks to Nathan 3
God asks, “Shall you?” 4 God says, “No.”
God never had a house before 5
God never asked for a house 6
God chose David 7
God walked with David 8
God will decide where His people will live 9
God will build a house for David 10 God will make a house for David
God will establish the kingdom of David’s seed, after the death of David 11
David’s seed will build a house for God; and his kingdom shall be forever 12
God will be his father; and he God’s son 13
If he commits sin, God will chasten him. ***** (no parallel)
God’s mercy will never depart from him as it did from Saul 13
David’s house and kingdom and throne shall be established forever 14 God will settle the seed of David in God’s house and kingdom forever; and the throne of David’s seed shall be forever
Nathan delivered the message to David 15
David asks, “Who am I? What is my house?” 16
God’s word applies to the distant future 17
What else can I say? Lord, You know. 18
God’s own will has ordered this 19
There is no other like the LORD God 20
There is no other people like God’s people 21
God has chosen His people 22
O Lord, may Your word ever be true 23
May your name be exalted forever 24
Your revelation causes me to pray 25
Your word is true 26
Your blessing will make these things so 27

Can you see that One, greater than Solomon (Matthew 12:42), is the object of this promised blessing; and that His kingdom alone shall be forever (Isaiah 9:6-7)?
