Blessing and a Curse
I. Privilege and responsibility (1-7)
II. The Promised Land (8-12)
III. The rains will stop (13-17)
IV. God’s word for you and your family (18-21)
V. Obedience’s reward (22-25)
VI. A life or death matter (26-32)
Meditation Points:
- The children haven’t seen all that God has done for their parents; but the parents have. Therefore the parents have a greater responsibility (Deuteronomy 11:7-8).
- God will be with His people 24/7 (Deuteronomy 11:12).
- The people were warned that the rain would stop if they abandoned God and went after false gods (Deuteronomy 11:12-17); and the rains did stop (1 Kings 17:1).
- How do children learn about God (Deut. 11:19)?
- A blessing (if you obey); and a curse (if you do not obey) (Deut. 11:27-28). Which would you choose?
